User Guide for G Suite Students


Users: G Suite Students

Introduction to Guide

Welcome to the User Guide for G Suite Students. This user guide is designed to provide necessary setup instructions and helpful resources for students using JoeZoo in their class(es). Students are recommended to start with this user guide, whether they have created their JoeZoo account or are just about to create it.


What is JoeZoo?

Students who would like to learn more about JoeZoo can visit this resource.


Account Creation

Students can use the following steps to create their JoeZoo Student Account:
  1. In your web browser, go to joezooapp.com 
  2. Click “Sign In With Google” to register with the Google account you use at school
  3. Select “Student” as your account type
  4. Input your age (e.g. 10 years old) into the field requesting for your age 
  5. If your teacher has not added you to a class, you will be asked to input your school name and location


Account Management

Students can manage the following details:
  1. Profile
  2. School/District
  3. Notifications
  4. Account Settings
  5. Support Resources
  6. Log Out
Students can access their Account page on the JoeZoo web app (not on JoeZoo Express) using the following steps: 
  1. Sign into the JoeZoo App at joezooapp.com 
  2. If you’re using JoeZoo Express, click “App” at the top right corner to navigate to the JoeZoo web app
  3. Click the button with your first name, located at the far right of the top navigation bar
  4. Select the category you would like to view or edit

JoeZoo Express Installation

Opening JoeZoo Express

If a teacher has downloaded JoeZoo Express for students, students can use the following steps to open the JoeZoo Express add-on:
  1. Open Google Docs and click open the Add-ons tab at the top
  2. Click on “JoeZoo Express” and then “Open JoeZoo Express”

Downloading JoeZoo Express

If students need to download JoeZoo Express, use the following steps to install the JoeZoo Express add-on: 
  1. Open Google Docs and click open the Add-ons tab at the top
  2. Click on “Get add-ons” 
  3. Once the Chrome Web Store opens, click onto the search icon (magnifying glass) and type in “JoeZoo Express”
  4. Click the “Install” button
  5. Allow Google to access the listed set of permissions
  6. Once JoeZoo Express opens on the right side of your Google Doc, complete the one-time set up.
  7. Students must input their age only to ensure JoeZoo is compliant with appropriate privacy laws. No other personal information will be requested to protect students’ privacy


Looking Up Classes

Students can look up their classes if they do not see any class tiles on their class page using the following steps:
  1. Sign into the JoeZoo App at joezooapp.com 
  2. Click the “Classes” tab at the top right corner
  3. Click the "Look Up Classes" button on the left
  4. Type your teacher's email if you know it and click "Look Up Classes" at the bottom

JoeZoo's Protection of Privacy and Data

JoeZoo cannot communicate directly with students due to the privacy policy in place. Students and parents can access JoeZoo’s Privacy Pledge and Privacy Policy and view JoeZoo’s Privacy & Data Security video in this FAQ article.
