In this article we introduce parents to the various parts of their child's Class page and how they can use it to support their child's learning.
Accessing a Class Page
To access a Class page, teachers should follow these step:
- Go to JoeZooApp.com and sign in
- Next, click on any class tile on the Classes page
Located at the top of each Class page are 5 tabs:
The 'Dashboard' tab shows teachers charts to see how many students and parents have completed their JoeZoo registration, and charts to track progress in student competencies, grades and 6 Essential Learning Skills.
To Do List
To make it easier for teachers to properly set up a class, we've created a 'To Do List' to guide them.
Of greatest importance to teachers is to make sure that students complete their 1-step set up
of JoeZoo. If teachers would like to view insights about how each student uses their feedback, they'll need to upgrade to the Insights package
And if they'd like to give students access to their own learning insights plus individualized improvement prompts, they'll need to upgrade all students to the Improvement package
Teachers give students a lot of feedback, but traditional assessment apps make it nearly impossible for a teacher to know which comments they gave most often and to which students. But JoeZoo makes it easy.
JoeZoo keeps track of every comment a teacher adds to each student doc and generates an interactive Comment Cloud for the entire class.
The larger the comment in the cloud, the greater the number of times the teacher gave it during the assignment. Since comments are usually feedback about student competencies, teachers can use the size of each comment in the cloud to determine which competencies might need additional instruction.
Teachers can click on any comment in the cloud to see to which students they gave the feedback, how many times and what proportion of the comments were complimentary versus corrective.
JoeZoo is designed to make grading fast and easy for teachers, and we do that by eliminating a lot of the manual steps in traditional grading methods.
With traditional grading methods, it is nearly impossible for teachers to know if they have graded the whole class, what grades they gave most frequently and to which students. But JoeZoo makes it easy.
With the Grades Chart, teachers can see whether they have graded all the students in a class or which ones they still need to grade. Additionally they'll be able to see all the grades they've given and if they click on a bar in the chart it will show to which students that particular grade was given.
JoeZoo is designed to help each student build the Essential Learning Skills they'll need across all courses they will take, every level of education and for their career.
To do that, we provide a faster way for teachers to give better quality feedback and then turn that feedback into individualized Improvement Tips
that are pushed to students whenever they work on new assignments.
To make it easy for teachers to track Skills Progress, we have created a Skill Chart for each of the 6 Essential Learning Skills
Teachers can click on bars in each chart to see which students did and did not demonstrate that skill.
According to all major privacy laws - like COPPA
, teachers must obtain explicit written consent from parents or their school before students can use any classroom app, including JoeZoo.
To make it easier, JoeZoo has added a 'Guardians' tab to each Class page. Teachers can use it to add a guardian for each student and then JoeZoo will obtain explicit digital consent from that guardian on behalf of the teacher, saving hours of effort.
As soon as a teacher adds all students on the Students tab, all of the same students will also be listed on the Guardians tab. Teachers can then input each guardian's email, first and last name followed by the 'Save' icon.
That will instantly send a Consent Request email to each guardian. As soon as the guardian grants consent, the teacher will see their updated status on the Guardians tab.
The 'Details' tab let's the teacher edit the name, grade level and subject of the class.
